3 DIY Floor Cleaners

Whether you just got new flooring from the Carrollton flooring experts at CMA Flooring or you just want to keep your current flooring in tip-top shape, here are three DIY cleaners that are both effective and all natural!

1. Carpet Cleaner

To lift stains from carpets, this recipe relies on pre-treatment with baking soda combined with a strong vinegar solution. To make, use enough baking soda to cover the stain and then combine:

• 1 Part Vinegar
• 1 Part Water
• Essential Oils (Ooptional)

If the stain is fresh, wipe the area to remove any liquid. Then, sprinkle baking soda over the stain and let it sit for at least an hour. For old stains, go immediately to the next step. Mix the vinegar, water, and essential oils in a spray bottle. Spray evenly over the stain until the area is completely saturated. Let sit for a few minutes, and then use a rag to wipe up the excess moisture. Once dry, vacuum the area to remove any remaining debris.

2. Wood Floor Cleaner

This old-fashioned cleaner relies on the acidic nature of white vinegar to lift grime from your classic or exotic wood floors, leaving them clean and residue-free. Mix together:



• 1 Gallon Warm Water
• ½ Cup White Vinegar
• 15 Drops Essential Oils (Optional)

Mix water and vinegar, then add essential oils if using. Mop the whole floor. If any excess water is left on your floor after mopping, dry with an absorbent cloth to avoid damage to the wood.

3. Grout Cleaner

To naturally combat the stains that inevitably affect grout, this cleaner combines full-strength vinegar with the stain-lifting powers of baking soda. Deeply stained grout may need multiple applications. Mix together the following:

• 2 Parts White Vinegar
• 1 Part Baking Soda

Combine the vinegar and baking soda, forming a thick paste. Apply directly to the grout and let sit for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, scrub the grout and wipe away any remaining cleaner with a damp cloth.
